Białołęka district, with the surface of 74 sq km, forms Warsaw northern border. It is situated along the roads leading to Białystok, Gdańsk, Ostrołęka, Suwałki and the Zegrzyński Lake. Many industrial areas are situated in the South-Western part of the district, in residential areas of Stare ¦widry, Konstantynów, Tarchomin, Annopol, Żerań and Żerań Wschodni (Eastern Zerań).

It is estimated that Białołęka district will become a potential area of high demographic growth, being a result of the immigration process, with the population that will exceed by several times the present one. The number ot new inhabitants is continuously increasing, especially the number of young couples (around 30 years of age) with children who are attracted by the ecological conditions of living (green areas, ecology), as well as economic reasons.

There is no other so big, beautifully located and at the same time so sparsely populated area in Warsaw as the one which is situated in the North-East part of the districts, at the border of the Reserve of Łęgi Czarnej Strugi (Black Stream Marsh), cut across by a green water route leading towards Zegrzyński Lake and Żerański Canal.

Culture and recreation

In the district, there are 10 primary schools, 4 grammar-schools, 5 kindergartens (with 22 branches) and the Complex of Psychological and Pedagogical Assistance Establishments.

Investments

Białołęka is becoming one of the most rapidly growing Warsaw districts. Its main assets are: natural features (rivers, canals and a port, forests and green lands, dunes), geographical location - a good connection with the City centre and recreation areas, as well as large not yet built up areas and the existing level of investment in technical infrastructure. Some parts of the above areas have already been built and the others wait for new investors.
