Location
The Praga Południe district covers the area of 22.4 sq km. Its dynamic development can be seen everywhere. Apart from many residential areas, built more than 10 years ago, e.g. Gocław-Lotnisko, Przyczółek Grochowski or Ignanska, new architecturally interesting residential complexes are being created. The district is the home of one of the most attractive residential districts in Warsaw, i.e. Saska Kępa - an exclusive villa district, characterized by its 1920s and 1930s-like construction style, rechecking Polish architectural trends of those years, from historic-style cottage-like and classical buildings to extreme functionalism. Many embassies have found their seat here.
Culture and recreation
The district aims at sport, recreation and rest. A lovely swimming pool, called "Wodnik" (Water Barer) has been built. It is located in Abrahama Street and contains full dimension indoor swimming pool, water cascade, geysers, jacuzzi and 70-metre long water chute. The swimming pool is a modern, functional and architecturally interesting building. Moreover, a complex of sport buildings has been built in Siennicka Street. It consists of a small and large sport halls, full dimension sport fields, ideal for team games and sport and recreation. Another big sport building is under construction, i.e. a sport centre in Angorska Street. The district hosts 4 sport clubs. There is also a cinema and a theatre in the district. The Ignacy Paderewski Park is a place for weekend recreation.
Investments
Area development plans cover not only sites destined for residential and service buildings, recreational and sports sites, but also locations for large surface retail facilities and modern office buildings. Soon, the reconstruction of crossover of Plowiecka and Marsa Streets, as well as Wiatraczna roundabout communication system will commence. Investments in communication systems will considerably improve commuting. The problem of 1Oth Anniversary Stadium still needs solving. It is planned that it will become a sport, exhibition and retail facility with multi-storey parking and complex of shops. The original function of the Stadium is to be restored, i.e. that of a sport games site. One of the most important investments in communication system within the district is to be the construction of Thousand Years Route (Trasa Tysi±clecia), planned as the eastern border of the so-called small Warsaw ring road covering, interalia, Łazienkowska Route, the communication system of Towarowa-Okopowa, Gdański Bridge, Starzyńskiego Street and Szwedzka Street.
