Services is the most important economic sector in Warsaw, employing over 70 percent of the total working population together with retail. The biggest growth in recent years has been in banking and finance. Warsaw has become the financial centre in this part of Europe. Private financial institutions are concentrated in Warsaw. The National Bank of Poland is located here as well as the Warsaw Stock Exchange, which is considered particularly attractive to investors and the best of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe.Twenty-five percent of its total transactions involve foreign capital.

A whole 206 of Pland's largest banks have established their headquartes and branches in Warsaw. In addition, 27 foreign banks have commercial operations here. Among them, almost all big international names are present. The same can be said of Polish and international insurance companies.

Other important service sectors are those rendered to corporations and private individuals. These include the lawyers and notary offices, consultants, surveyors, auditors and accountants, computer services and human resources agencies. The foreign investor can find the same international consulting companies he or she is already working with in Western Europe or North America . Many of the foreign companies which have registred their offices in Warsaw have been actively engaged in the privatisation process, in the monitoring of the property market, or in providing legal services for important investment decisions.
