In Poland, land for investment purpose can be purchased from private owners, institutions, the State Treasury and cities. These areas are a great asset in the shaping of the local investment policy. Private investors and housing co-operatives may acquire land for commercial purposes only by tender. In order to help potential investors to find a parcel, districts prepare lists of plots which will be put up to tender at the beginning of each year.
There are many large sites around the city still available, waiting for an investor with the necessery capital and development project. Such areas include the environs of railway stations Dworzec Gdański, Dworzec Zachodni and Dworzec Południowy, the region around the Palace of Culture on Defilad Square and many others. The construction of nine underground car parks with around 6,500 spaces is planned. All of them will be located in the centre of the city.
